This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 23 losses; Roddy Banner! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Horrible takedown attempt by Banner or perhaps it was just good defense by Prochazka, which made it look bad. Banner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Prochazka (0) vs (4) Banner Banner working away. Prochazka is looking to reverse the position. Banner is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Prochazka's shoulder. That is not cool. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prochazka manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Prochazka (2) vs (4) Banner Banner tries to get to full guard but Prochazka has control of the leg. Prochazka is taking a breather. Banner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prochazka trying to control from half guard but Banner is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Prochazka wants to advance to full mount but Banner doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Prochazka being controlled here momentarily. Our spies down at at HELLCADEMY inform us that Banner has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prochazka wants to control from the top but Banner keeps moving. Banner is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Prochazka is pushing down on Banner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Banner is fighting to maintain full guard but Prochazka has managed to sneak the leg through. Prochazka keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Prochazka wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banner keeps working. Banner is holding on to half guard well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banner is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Prochazka has latched onto it... Big trouble! Prochazka pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Banner is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Prochazka!
