Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Cabrera (ranked 5082 p4p, 3011 weight class) and Bagomed Umarov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bagomed Umarov will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frederick Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bagomed Umarov!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Umarov works over Cabrera's head and body with a nice combination.

Umarov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cabrera is trying to escape back to his feet but Umarov uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Umarov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Umarov lands with a slapping head kick.
Cabrera throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cabrera throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Umarov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Umarov feints a jab promting Cabrera to slip. Umarov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Cabrera slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Bagomed Umarov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Umarov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Umarov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Cabrera steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Umarov. That one must have hurt.

Cabrera is trying to maintain a safe position but Umarov gets an underhook and turns Cabrera into the cage.

Umarov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Umarov moves into range and clinches up with Cabrera.
Cabrera is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Maybe Cabrera would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Umarov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Cabrera throws a right hand that Umarov ducks under and follows up with a left that Umarov also avoids with ease.

Umarov closes the distance and pushes Cabrera back into the cage.

Umarov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cabrera regains guard immediately.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cabrera enables Umarov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cabrera manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cabrera is pushing Umarov up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Cabrera can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Umarov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cabrera uses from the top position.

Cabrera knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Umarov on the ground.

Umarov is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Cabrera defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bagomed Umarov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Umarov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
