Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Backland (ranked 4455 p4p, 4063 weight class) and Django Wick (ranked 0 p4p, 428 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backland fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wick avoids it really well and circles away.
Backland avoids the head kick by Wick.
Backland was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wick. Backland does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Backland or perhaps it was just good defense by Wick, which made it look bad.

Backland instigates a clinch.
Backland avoiding damage as Wick throws knees to the body.

Wick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wick misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wick misses with a few strikes there.
Backland moves in looking to clinch but Wick pushes him off.
Backland tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Wick shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Backland moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wick trying to control the position from guard on top but Backland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wick prevents Backland from getting back to his feet.
Wick wants to control from the top but Backland keeps moving.
Wick might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Backland haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Backland wants to get back to his feet but Wick is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Backland wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
An inside leg kick lands from Wick.
Wick looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Wick shoots in and bounces Backland off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Backland looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Wick is defending well. Backland quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Wick has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Backland celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
