This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Stu Pendous! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Kieran Chan! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Chan clinches up against the cage. Chan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pendous to keep the fight standing. Pendous has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Chan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pendous is trying to drag Chan to the mat but Chan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Pendous turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pendous manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Pendous (4) vs (0) Chan We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pendous trying to control the position but Chan is working away. Pendous wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chan, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pendous is trying to get an arm triangle but Chan is defending well. Pendous tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pendous has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Chan tries to improve position but can't. Chan wants to control but Pendous postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pendous is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chan has escaped the position, nice work there. Chan can't do much from the bottom here. Pendous thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Chan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pendous's best efforts.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pendous is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pendous. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chan wants to control the action here but instead Pendous manages to pass to full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Pendous (7) vs (0) Chan Pendous with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Pendous manages to capitalize on a mistake by Chan to take his back! Score +3 for taking back: Pendous (10) vs (0) Chan Pendous is persistently looking for the submission but Chan is defending it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan wants to control his opponent's hands but Pendous gets his hands free. Chan is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Pendous gets his way!

That's five minutes gone in the round. Chan is still trying to improve position. Pendous working for the choke. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chan is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Pendous is looking for the choke from the back position but Chan is controlling his hands well. Pendous has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Chan! Can he survive? No! He's out! Pendous gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
