PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nico World Citizen (ranked 13142 p4p, 20961 weight class) and Buzzard Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 430 weight class). World Citizen comes to the cage accompanied by Rich Bitch. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 33 - 38 - 4, fighting out of London, Nico World Citizen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buzzard Leonard! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leonard is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in World Citizen's half guard. World Citizen is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leonard in particular looking to stall. Leonard is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and World Citizen defends it well. Still in half guard, Leonard seems content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. World Citizen trying to control here.
World Citizen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Leonard is controlling the pace.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Leonard is working for a submission of some sort.
Leonard passes the guard and advances to mount! Leonard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Leonard looking to control and managing it successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leonard avoids the attempt from World Citizen to control. Leonard sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Leonard's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Leonard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Leonard landing strikes, looking to finish! Leonard get's back to his feet. Leonard dives in and scores a takedown into World Citizen's guard. Leonard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Leonard in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. World Citizen is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leonard keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of World Citizen's head. Leonard advances to half guard. Leonard working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Leonard not doing much here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leonard is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Buzzard Leonard dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Leonard uses his free foot to push down on World Citizen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for World Citizen. Leonard scores with a couple of good head shots there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leonard controlling the position easily from mount. Leonard working for a submission but World Citizen is keeping him at bay. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Leonard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Leonard scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Leonard has hold of World Citizen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and World Citizen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Leonard jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but World Citizen manages to avoid the submission attempt. Buzzard Leonard has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leonard moves into full mount! Leonard controlling the position easily from mount. Leonard lands a big elbow.

World Citizen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Leonard works his way to his opponent's back.
Leonard is working the ground and pound. Can World Citizen escape? Leonard is riding his opponent, not letting World Citizen buck him off. Leonard is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leonard really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for World Citizen. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Leonard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Buzzard Leonard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! World Citizen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
World Citizen tries to sprawl but Leonard drives through with a takedown into half guard. Leonard is looking to advance position but World Citizen won't allow it. Leonard is taking a breather. World Citizen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Nice strikes from Leonard there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leonard stalling. Leonard is working for a kimura but World Citizen is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round. Leonard with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. World Citizen is trying to get back to full guard. Leonard is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Leonard passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for World Citizen!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. World Citizen is in a horrible position here. Leonard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Leonard controlling his opponent. BOOM! Leonard connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leonard working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Leonard is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but World Citizen is surviving well by controlling Leonard's body position as best he can. Leonard lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Leonard controlling the pace for now. Leonard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Leonard is working for a guillotine from mount but World Citizen frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leonard wants to finish this one by submission but World Citizen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Leonard. Leonard lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leonard postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. World Citizen looks a forlorn figure.
World Citizen is trying to escape the mount but Leonard keeps good control and instead manages to take World Citizen's back.
And that's the end of the fight! Buzzard Leonard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Leonard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
