Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Avery Watson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Simmons throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Simmons tries to clinch up but Watson circles away and keeps his distance.
Watson swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Simmons feints a jab promting Watson to slip. Simmons then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Watson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Simmons shoots in looking for a takedown. Watson tries to sprawl out of it but Simmons keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Watson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Watson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Simmons sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Watson somewhat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Simmons enables Watson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Simmons manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Watson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Watson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Simmons off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Well Watson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
