PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hyu Head (ranked 1987 p4p, 24870 weight class) and DeMarcus Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Head comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the tiger. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 34 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hyu Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, DeMarcus Slice!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Head shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Head working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Slice doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Slice is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Head looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Slice is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head pushing down on Slice's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Slice wants to control but Head is keeping busy.
Head is trying to control. Slice wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Head is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Head looking to secure an arm triangle but Slice defends it well.

Head looking for a guillotine from mount but Slice is having none of it.

Slice defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Head.
The referee warns Slice that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Head looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Head wants to control the pace but Slice is squirming around nicely.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Head cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

It looks like DeMarcus Slice has been cut.

Head won't let Slice get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Slice tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Head get's back to his feet.
Slice shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Head as he jumps to the side.
Slice misses with a double jab.
Slice tries for a takedown but Head sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Slice will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hyu Head has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DeMarcus Slice.
Slice looks winded!
Slice shoots in but Head avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Head closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slice circles away.
Head shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slice sprawls well. Slice wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Head gets slowly back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slice shoots and misses

and Head counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Head pulls Slice into guard.
Head wants to improve his position but instead Slice has moved into half guard.
Head trying to control from the bottom.
Head is looking for a sweep. Slice is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Head is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slice's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slice's back!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Head shoots in looking for a takedown but Slice manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Head's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Slice tries to counter it with a takedown but Head pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Head shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Slice has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Head is on him like a limpet, forcing Slice back against the cage.
Head is trying to pull guard but Slice has him pressed against the cage.
Slice looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Slice looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head gets underhooks to prevent Slice's takedown attempt.

Head jumps guard.
Head is trying to control the position but Slice postures up.

Head wants to sweep but no luck.
Head is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Slice slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hyu Head overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Slice postures up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Head is defended easily by Slice.
Slice is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Head looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Slice tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Head swivels and escapes.
Hyu Head seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Slice tries to buck Head off but Head is having none of it.
Head throws a strike aimed at the side of Slice's head but Slice avoids it well.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Head avoids the head kick by Slice.
Head changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slice tries to avoid it but Head manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slice to the ground. Slice escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Slice gets tackled into the cage by Head. Head maintains the clinch.
Slice has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Head after a bit of a struggle.
Head effectively controlling the action here.

Head gets control of Slice's arms and successfully pulls guard. Head will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Head tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Head has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Head is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slice defends it well.
Slice wants to get back to his feet.

Slice manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Head keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Slice has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Head breaks from the clinch.
Head shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Slice counters with a three punch combo that has Head backing up. Head nods at Slice to acknowledge the strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to DeMarcus Slice.
I think Head has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Hyu Head was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
