Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antonio Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keishin Smith!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Topper Green and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Rivera. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Smith throws a head kick that half lands.
Rivera moves out of range of the strikes.
Rivera was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rivera moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jab by Smith.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rivera is rocked!
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rivera half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Oh Rivera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith throws a leg kick which misses Rivera's front leg but catches the back leg as Rivera tries to avoid it.
Smith cracks Rivera with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Rivera falls to his knees and Smith doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Keishin Smith!
