Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jaidyn Meyers (ranked 2552 p4p, 4776 weight class) and Colton Tanner (ranked 230 p4p, 370 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaidyn Meyers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Colton Tanner! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Tanner looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Horrible takedown attempt by Tanner or perhaps it was just good defense by Meyers, which made it look bad. Meyers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Tanner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tanner throwing strikes from guard but Meyers blocks nicely.

Tanner engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Tanner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Tanner loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Tanner is in close to Meyers's body, working some short punches and elbows. Tanner controls from within his opponent's guard. Tanner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tanner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Tanner dives in for a single leg takedown but Meyers sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tanner tries to clinch and Meyers cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. The fight moves into the clinch position. Meyers tries to circle away but Tanner has him pinned against the cage. Tanner tries to score a body lock takedown but Meyers shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Jaidyn Meyers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colton Tanner. Meyers prevents a takedown attempt there.
Meyers wants to get back to striking at distance but Tanner won't allow it.
Tanner has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meyers avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Meyers breaks from the clinch.
Tanner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tanner lands in his opponent's guard. Tanner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Meyers tries to get out of the position. Meyers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Tanner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Meyers is breathing heavily. Tanner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Tanner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Tanner scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Tanner shoots in for a takedown but Meyers shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Meyers wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Tanner tries to close the distance and clinch but Meyers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Meyers is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Tanner misses with a takedown attempt - Meyers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Tanner dives in for a single leg takedown but Meyers sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Meyers is looking to counter the offense by Tanner and move into the clinch. Tanner doesn't succeed with the takedown and Meyers counters with a straight right hand. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tanner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Meyers sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tanner somewhat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jaidyn Meyers will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Tanner shoots in for a takedown but Meyers shows good takedown defense. Tanner fails with the takedown and Meyers makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Tanner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Meyers to the ground. Tanner is now in Meyers's guard. Tanner trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tanner chips away with some ground and pound. Tanner content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanner sitting in guard, not really doing much. Meyers throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Tanner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Meyers sprawls well initially but Tanner persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Meyers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tanner on the ground. Tanner not landing any meaningful shots this time. Meyers definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tanner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Meyers's head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Tanner lands with a punch from half guard. Tanner stalling. Nice strikes from Tanner there. Meyers is trying to stand up here but Tanner is controlling him well. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. No luck for Tanner with that takedown attempt. Tanner changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Meyers looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
