PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Jake Dunn (ranked 24027 p4p, 24953 weight class) and Gudu Rimo (ranked 195 p4p, 201 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Dunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gudu Rimo!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rimo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rimo appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Rimo moves into the clinch.
Dunn tries to break free but Rimo pushes him back against the ropes.
Rimo throws an elbow but it misses.

Rimo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rimo misses with a double jab

and Dunn counters by moving into the clinch.

Rimo breaks the clinch.

Rimo closes the distance and clinches.

Dunn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dunn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Rimo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rimo tries to counter with a clinch but Dunn shakes him off and moves away.
Rimo slips a straight right by Dunn.
Rimo misses the shot to the body.
Rimo moves out of range of the body kick.
Rimo throws a counter combo.

Rimo drives through and clinches with Dunn against the ropes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rimo stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Rimo avoiding damage as Dunn throws knees to the body.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Rimo just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dunn's brow.

Rimo manages to break the clinch.

Rimo moves into the clinch.
Rimo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dunn avoids it.

Rimo breaks from the clinch.
Dunn fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rimo throws the kick towards the body but Dunn avoids it.

Rimo rushes Dunn and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Rimo has Dunn pressed against the ropes, preventing Dunn from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Dunn is trying to break free.

Rimo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dunn looks to land a combination but Rimo avoids it well.
Dunn tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Rimo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dunn tries to clinch there but Rimo circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rimo scores with a shoulder strike.

Rimo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rimo is struggling to control the position.
Rimo stalls.
Rimo lands a left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gudu Rimo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dunn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rimo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rimo.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rimo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Rimo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rimo lands a right hook to the body.
Dunn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dunn stalling in the clinch but Rimo improves position.
Gudu Rimo seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Rimo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rimo takes a shot right to the bread basket.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rimo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dunn throws out the jab.

Rimo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rimo lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Dunn moves in looking to clinch but Rimo pushes him off.

Dunn misses the shot to the body.
Rimo tries a head kick but it misses.
Rimo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rimo looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Dunn wants to break the clinch but can't.

Rimo throws a head kick but Dunn moves out of range.
Dunn moves in looking to clinch but Rimo pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dunn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rimo goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Dunn avoids a punch combination nicely.

Dunn pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rimo back to the ropes. Dunn follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Gudu Rimo has been cut.

Rimo closes the distance and clinches.
Rimo tries a body shot but Dunn blocks it.

Rimo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dunn ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rimo scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Dunn misses with a double jab.

Rimo has managed to clinch.
Dunn looking to slow down the pace here.
Rimo pushes Dunn back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gudu Rimo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Gudu Rimo's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Dunn sizes up Rimo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dunn takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
As Rimo tries to get set, Dunn tries to push him back and clinch up but Rimo manages to avoid the attempt.
Dunn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rimo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
It looked like Dunn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Rimo closes the distance and clinches.
Dunn is trying to break the clinch but Rimo has him pressed against the ropes.
Dunn stalling in the clinch but Rimo improves position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rimo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dunn up against the ropes.
Dunn wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Rimo - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Rimo manages to break the clinch.

Rimo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dunn is looking to control Rimo's arms but Rimo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dunn has his back to the ropes.
Rimo keeps control of Dunn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Dunn wants to get back to striking at distance but Rimo won't allow it.
Dunn is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Dunn pushes off an throws an elbow but Rimo leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Rimo manages to break the clinch.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rimo checks a leg kick.
Rimo keeps the fight on the outside.

Rimo drives through and clinches with Dunn against the ropes.

Rimo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dunn avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dunn tries to counter by clinching up but Rimo breaks away and moves out of range.
Dunn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Rimo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rimo is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Rimo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dunn doesn't seem bothered though.
Jake Dunn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gudu Rimo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Gudu Rimo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rimo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
