Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Blazej Maleszewski (ranked 2103 p4p, 2747 weight class) and Finley Cowan (ranked 215 p4p, 268 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Blazej Maleszewski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Finley Cowan! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maleszewski throws a leg kick but Cowan checks it. Cowan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maleszewski sprawls well. Maleszewski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cowan gets slowly back to his feet. Maleszewski takes the fight into the clinch. Maleszewski gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cowan.

Maleszewski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Maleszewski throws a body punch but Cowan moves out of range. Cowan tries to keep at a distance but Maleszewski has taken the fight into the clinch. Maleszewski pulls guard effortlessly. Cowan looking to pass the guard. Cowan trying to control but Maleszewski is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maleszewski controls Cowan momentarily but Cowan frees himself. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Blazej Maleszewski will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Maleszewski creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cowan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cowan wants to control but Maleszewski postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maleszewski misses with the ground and pound. That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Cowan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Maleszewski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Maleszewski throwing strikes but missing, from side control. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cowan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Maleszewski not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cowan tries to land a leg kick but Maleszewski saw it coming and moves away.

Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Cowan looks to score with a jab to the body but Maleszewski is just out of range. Finley Cowan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Maleszewski forces Cowan back against the cage and clinches. Maleszewski jumps guard.

Cowan lands a couple of decent looking shots. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cowan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cowan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Maleszewski after a bit of a struggle. Maleszewski gets control of Cowan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Maleszewski will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Cowan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Cowan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Maleszewski's head. Maleszewski is pulling down on Cowan's head. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Maleszewski looking to sit in guard and control but Cowan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cowan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Maleszewski trying to control the position.
Maleszewski pulls Cowan in to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cowan lands a couple of elbows.
And that's the end of the fight! Finley Cowan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Maleszewski has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
