Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lorenz Blackwater (ranked 1849 p4p, 1831 weight class) and Kyoto Costa (ranked 220 p4p, 218 weight class). Blackwater comes into the arena with A$AP Rocky - Everyday blaring out of the sound system. Kyoto Costa acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lorenz Blackwater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyoto Costa! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blackwater feints a jab promting Costa to slip. Blackwater then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Costa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Blackwater shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Costa defends it nicely. Blackwater swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Costa dips to his left and cracks Blackwater with an uppercut! Blackwater throws the kick towards the body but Costa avoids it. Nice body punch from Costa. Blackwater tries to move into range but Costa moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Blackwater jabbing away but nothing is landing. Costa connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Blackwater takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Blackwater misses with a wild combination.
Costa digs a good body shot into Blackwater's ribs. A bone on bone clash there as Blackwater blocks the leg kick.
Blackwater throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Costa's waist but Costa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Blackwater off to one side. Blackwater rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Costa moves out of range and avoids them all easily. We've been told by Blackwater's head coaches at California Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Blackwater drops his hands momentarily and Costa takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Some wild striking there from Blackwater.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Blackwater ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Blackwater has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Costa finds it's way round the side to connect with Blackwater's head. Costa keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Blackwater. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Blackwater doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Blackwater misses with a body kick. Costa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Blackwater. A momentary lapse in concentration from Costa enables Blackwater to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Costa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Costa has Blackwater pulled in close to control his posture. Costa wants to sweep but no luck. Costa seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Blackwater lands a couple of elbows. Costa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Costa keeping full guard, as Blackwater tries to pass. Costa is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Costa looking for a sweep. Not yet Costa, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Costa is pulling down on Blackwater's head. It's preventing any offense from Blackwater, at least for the moment. Blackwater advances to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Blackwater trying to control from half guard but Costa is working away. Costa wants to sweep but Blackwater has passed to side control! Costa wants to control but Blackwater postures up. Costa sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Costa is staying active underneath Blackwater, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Costa wants to sweep but Blackwater has passed to side control! Costa is not content to let Blackwater control the position. Costa is trying to control Blackwater's posture but Blackwater avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blackwater has an Americana. Costa didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Blackwater is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Blackwater hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Lorenz Blackwater! A less than humble Lorenz Blackwater misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
