Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alain Braque (ranked 2346 p4p, 3558 weight class) and Janne Varis (ranked 267 p4p, 400 weight class). Braque kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Enchanted Forest. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alain Braque!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Janne Varis!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Varis misses with a takedown
and Braque counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Varis thinking.
Braque looks to score with a jab to the body but Varis is just out of range.
Varis throws out a counter right but Braque avoids it with no problem.
Braque throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Despite the aggression on Varis's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Nice straight punches there by Braque. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Braque.
Varis walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Braque checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Varis throws a head kick that misses.
It looked like Braque was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Varis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Varis takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Varis fails with a takedown attempt.

Varis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Braque throws a body shot but no joy.
A little jabbing left from Varis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Braque misses with a wild body shot.
Varis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Varis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Varis using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Braque has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Varis lands with a short shot to the head.

Varis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Braque gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Alain Braque has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Janne Varis.
Braque tries to throw a body punch but Varis avoids it by throwing Braque back against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Braque looking to hit a scissor sweep but Varis is one step ahead there.
Braque pulls Varis in close to prevent any damage.
Braque has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Braque fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Varis manages to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Braque misses with an uppercut. Varis saw that one coming.
Varis thinks about the counter body kick.
Braque tries to clinch up but Varis circles away and keeps his distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Alain Braque will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Varis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Braque's elbow.

Braque digs a right hand into Varis's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Varis's gas tank.

Varis has had enough of the clinch but Braque keeps him there for the moment.
Braque goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Braque lands a hook that snaps the head of Varis backwards.

Braque doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Varis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Braque gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Braque lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Varis backwards.
Braque is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Varis can do to turn this around?
Braque misses with a punch to the body.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Braque creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Braque creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Varis with a big uppercut! Varis tries to clinch up but Braque pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Varis to the mat! Varis covers up and Braque unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
