Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chayton Catawanee (ranked 1792 p4p, 2629 weight class) and Sauv Ignon (ranked 228 p4p, 340 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chayton Catawanee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sauv Ignon!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ignon lands a nice hook to Catawanee's body. Catawanee takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Chayton Catawanee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ignon works Catawanee's body with a nice hook.
Ignon moves out of range as Catawanee strikes.
Ignon with the counter takedown but Catawanee avoids it easily.
Catawanee smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A shot to the liver by Ignon. Beautiful body shot.
Ignon lands with a right hand.
Catawanee throws a poor cross that misses
and Ignon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ignon ducks under a wild hook from Catawanee.
Catawanee throws a jab when Ignon was well out of range.
Ignon swings for the body but Catawanee moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Catawanee on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ignon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Catawanee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Catawanee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ignon changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Catawanee connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ignon's hands.

It looks like Sauv Ignon has been cut.
Ignon defending well as Catawanee loads up on a big left hand.
Catawanee misses with a hook.
Catawanee lands with a good body shot.
Catawanee connects with a right hand. Ignon shakes it off.
Catawanee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ignon misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ignon moves out of range of the leg kick from Catawanee.
Catawanee throws a hook but Ignon avoids it easily.
Ignon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Catawanee's head backwards.
Ignon ducks under a wild hook from Catawanee.
Catawanee throws a right hand that misses

and Ignon counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ignon.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ignon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Catawanee is keeping the position for now.

Ignon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Catawanee is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Catawanee has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ignon has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Catawanee doesn't defend quickly enough and Ignon has managed to lock this one up! Can Catawanee escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ignon on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sauv Ignon!
A relieved looking Sauv Ignon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
