And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Hardeep Nijjar! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Nijjar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Greer is fending him off so far but Nijjar persists. Nope, Greer circles away and we're back to standing. Greer tries to counter with a takedown but Nijjar is quick to defend against it. Nijjar takes the fight into the clinch. Nijjar successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Greer is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greer advances position into side control! That's two minutes gone in the round. Nijjar is not content to let Greer control the position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Greer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nijjar keeps working. Nijjar prevents Greer from improving position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nijjar is looking for a sweep. Greer controlling the position. Greer trying to control the position but Nijjar is working away. Greer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Nijjar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Greer tries to control but Nijjar wriggling away. Nijjar tries to hold on but Greer postures up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nijjar can do anything to dispel that myth. Greer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Greer wants to control the pace but Nijjar is squirming around nicely.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Nijjar is looking to improve his position but Greer isn't that keen on the idea. Greer controlling the pace for now. Greer tries to control but Nijjar wriggling away. Greer looking to control and managing it successfully.

Greer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Good control from Greer. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Nijjar is keeping busy.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Greer looking to break Nijjar's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Nijjar remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Greer will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Nijjar staying busy and making it hard for Greer to control. A bit of a pause in the action here. Greer controlling the positon. Greer is looking to control Nijjar but Nijjar is wriggling around and keeping busy. Greer controlling from the back.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Greer is trying to control but Nijjar is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Greer looking to control but Nijjar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Greer fails to advance to Nijjar's back. Greer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Greer trying to control but Nijjar is having none of it. Greer is really struggling to control Nijjar but he's trying to hold on to the position. Greer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Nijjar has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Greer tries to keep control of the position but Nijjar is staying busy. Greer really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Nijjar. Greer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Greer is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Nijjar has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Greer has good solid back control here. Greer has managed to slip his arm under Nijjar's chin. This could be all over... yep, Nijjar is tapping out! Submission win for Greer.
