Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joel Osmond (ranked 2235 p4p, 1306 weight class) and Horus Hekkala (ranked 262 p4p, 160 weight class). Joel Osmond has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joel Osmond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Horus Hekkala!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Osmond.
Osmond trying to control the position but Hekkala is working away.
Hekkala is looking for a sweep.

Osmond is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hekkala has escaped the position, nice work there.
Osmond is looking to take a break and control but Hekkala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hekkala tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Osmond wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Osmond creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hekkala sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Osmond wants to control but Hekkala is keeping him busy.

Hekkala is not content to let Osmond control the position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ground and pound from Osmond seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Osmond looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hekkala sneaks back into half guard.
Hekkala is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Osmond's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Osmond's back!

Hekkala really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Osmond.
You can see the frustration on Osmond's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Osmond is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hekkala.
Osmond might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Osmond wants to control his opponent's hands but Hekkala gets his hands free.

Osmond just trying to survive but Hekkala is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Osmond is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hekkala is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Osmond is trying to break free.
Osmond turns into Hekkala and is now in his guard.
We've been hearing that Osmond has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Osmond throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Osmond is working Hekkala over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hekkala has his hands on Osmond's head, controlling the position.
Osmond working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Osmond stands and throws Hekkala's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joel Osmond will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hekkala gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hekkala tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Osmond paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Osmond changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Hekkala ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Osmond moves away.
Osmond drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hekkala sprawls and moves away.

It looks like Joel Osmond has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hekkala tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Osmond throws a right hand that misses
and Hekkala counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Osmond shoots in for a takedown but Hekkala shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hekkala! But no joy.
Hekkala fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hekkala is looking to clinch.
Osmond slips under a jab from Hekkala.
Hekkala keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fighters circling - Osmond throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hekkala looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Osmond tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hekkala swivels and escapes.

Hekkala dodges the punch combination from Osmond.
Hekkala is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Hekkala cracks Osmond with a good jab.
Hekkala jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Joel Osmond's cut is getting worse.
Osmond takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Osmond throws a right and a left that Hekkala avoids nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hekkala walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Osmond checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Hekkala is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Horus Hekkala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hekkala fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hekkala dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Osmond. That did some damage!
Horus Hekkala seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Osmond throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hekkala lands a left and a right that send Osmond crashing to the mat, dazed. Hekkala thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Osmond is rocked!
Hekkala has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hekkala closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Osmond out cold! Osmond corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Horus Hekkala!
An out of breath Horus Hekkala thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
