Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Khalil Rivers (ranked 24548 p4p, 4325 weight class) and Dante Mercado (ranked 325 p4p, 285 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Dante Mercado enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khalil Rivers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dante Mercado! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Mercado. Rivers is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The referee asks Mercado politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mercado prefers to stall for the moment though. Rivers can't do much from the bottom here. Mercado throws an elbow but Rivers slips to the side and avoids it well. Rivers tries to bench press Mercado off him but Mercado keeps the position. Mercado is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rivers will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivers is trying to control Mercado's posture but Mercado avoids it. Mercado has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rivers! Mercado avoids the attempt from Rivers to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rivers is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Zanshin MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Mercado is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rivers is just riding it out for now. Mercado eventually gives up the hold. Mercado working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Rivers wants to control but Mercado postures up. Mercado has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mercado tries for a kimura but Rivers is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rivers being controlled for a moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Dante Mercado is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mercado is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rivers's half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Dante Mercado comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mercado has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
