PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Hossein Salami (ranked 4223 p4p, 4394 weight class) and Beau Maddox (ranked 439 p4p, 462 weight class). Salami comes to the ring accompanied by allhamdulilah. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hossein Salami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Beau Maddox!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salami avoids the body shot from Maddox.
Salami throws a shot from downtown. Maddox moves away and avoids it.
Maddox staying out of range there.
Maddox misses with a hook to the body
and Salami counters with a really nice, stiff jab that drops Maddox onto his ass. He'll have to take the mandatory count from the referee but he's back on his feet and he seems OK to continue.
It looks like Beau Maddox has been cut.
Maddox swings away with a body shot that misses
enabling Salami to counter with a crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Salami looks to throw the jab but Maddox is out of range.
Maddox is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Salami with a body shot.
Maddox swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Salami counters with a big right hook, that lands right on the temple! Maddox goes down! Salami rushes to a neutral corner to get the count going quickly. This one's going to be close! 3,4,5,6,7... Maddox is up to one knee.... 8,9....10! He didn't make it! This fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Hossein Salami!
An out of breath Hossein Salami thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
