This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Berendas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Gracias (0) vs (4) Berendas Berendas is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gracias is looking for a sweep. Berendas takes a little break here. Gracias wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Gracias is trying to control Berendas's posture but Berendas avoids it. You can see the frustration on Gracias's face as Berendas controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Berendas working away. Berendas moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like Berendas might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Berendas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Let's hope that Berendas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Berendas pushes down on Gracias's leg and manages to get into half guard. Berendas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gracias makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gracias. Berendas pushes down on Gracias's leg and manages to get into half guard.
