Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Holloway (ranked 3852 p4p, 3755 weight class) and Joff Kriss (ranked 0 p4p, 343 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Holloway! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joff Kriss! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holloway shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kriss as he jumps to the side. Holloway clinches up against the cage. Kriss managing to block the knees to the body from Holloway.
Kriss keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Holloway's efforts to push away. Holloway can't get the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kriss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kriss takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Holloway. Kriss is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Kriss moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kriss swats away the attempt to clinch by Holloway. Holloway walks into a left hand. Kriss misses with a shot to the body and Holloway counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Holloway closes the distance and pushes Kriss back into the cage. Holloway is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Holloway. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kriss tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Holloway just stands there and leans against the cage. Holloway wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kriss wants to break free but Holloway has control.
Kriss misses with a short punch on the inside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holloway tries to pull guard but Kriss forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Kriss tries to break the clinch but Holloway is controlling the position. Kriss jumps guard but Holloway stands there with Kriss around his waist. Kriss gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kriss breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Holloway throws a head kick but Kriss moves out of range.

and Holloway counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Holloway fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Joff Kriss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kriss cracks Holloway with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holloway closes the distance but Kriss moves to the side and Kriss counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Kriss's corner calls for a 1-2. Kriss obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
It looks like Max Holloway has been cut. A big left from Kriss misses. Holloway fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Holloway shoots in for a double leg but Kriss sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kriss! But no joy. Holloway is breathing heavily. Kriss throws out a loose jab but Holloway uses good head movement to avoid it. Kriss lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kriss stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kriss wants it to stay on the feet. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kriss! But no joy. Holloway moves into the clinch. Kriss throws a head punch that misses. Holloway is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Kriss tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Kriss is working for takedown but Holloway is calmly controlling the position for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kriss is trying to drag Holloway to the mat but Holloway just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Kriss breaks the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joff Kriss dominated that round. The cut man is working on Max Holloway's cut. That's time! Back to the action! Holloway throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Holloway scores with a shot to the body.

and Holloway counters with a stiff right hand. A slow jab from Kriss misses its intended target. Holloway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kriss tries to avoid it but Holloway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kriss to the ground. Kriss escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kriss let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Kriss bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Holloway's head backwards. Holloway throws a head kick but Kriss moves out of range.

Holloway is rocked! Holloway works Kriss's body with a nice hook. Holloway shoots in looking for a takedown but Kriss manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Holloway's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Holloway shoots in but Kriss avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Max Holloway. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Holloway throws a big counter combination but Kriss scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Holloway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kriss tries to avoid it but Holloway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kriss to the ground. Kriss escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kriss swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Kriss throws a leg kick which misses Holloway's front leg but catches the back leg as Holloway tries to avoid it. Kriss lands a jab to the nose. Oh Holloway is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kriss is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Holloway flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Holloway is out cold! Kriss holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joff Kriss!
