Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harley Shaffer (ranked 4202 p4p, 4188 weight class) and Vitor Teixeira (ranked 428 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harley Shaffer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vitor Teixeira!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaffer closes the distance and clinches.
Teixeira is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shaffer pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Shaffer manages to break the clinch.
Teixeira misses with a hook. Shaffer ducked under it nicely.

Shaffer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shaffer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Teixeira is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shaffer off and has taken his back!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shaffer is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Teixeira is hanging on to Shaffer's back as he tries to escape.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Teixeira's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Shaffer wants to control his opponent's hands but Teixeira gets his hands free.

Shaffer rolls, trying to escape but Teixeira keeps control of the position.
Shaffer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Teixeira on the ground.
Teixeira throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Shaffer!
Teixeira wants to control but Shaffer is keeping busy.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
I really don't envy Shaffer right now.
Shaffer trying to control the action but Teixeira just sinks the hooks in.
Teixeira cracks Shaffer with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Shaffer from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Teixeira dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Teixeira tries to clinch there but Shaffer circles away.
Shaffer scores with a jab to the body.
Teixeira shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shaffer pinned against the cage. Shaffer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Teixeira wants to clinch up but Shaffer keeps it at a distance.
Shaffer lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Shaffer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Teixeira has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Teixeira throws a sloppy head kick and Shaffer moves out of range easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Teixeira connects with a nice short shot to Shaffer's temple.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Teixeira lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Teixeira lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Shaffer has a hand on Teixeira's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Teixeira takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Shaffer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Teixeira wants to control the pace but Shaffer is squirming around nicely.
Teixeira has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Teixeira lands a big shot there that rocks Shaffer but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Teixeira is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shaffer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Shaffer tries to hold on but Teixeira pushes him away.
Vitor Teixeira has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shaffer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Teixeira manages to capitalize on a mistake by Shaffer to take his back!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Shaffer is working hard here to advance position.

Vitor Teixeira showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Teixeira misses with a takedown attempt - Shaffer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Teixeira passes into side control, despite Shaffer's attempt to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Teixeira passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Shaffer!
BOOM! Teixeira connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The referee is taking a good look at Shaffer as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Teixeira!

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Teixeira.
Oh Shaffer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
