Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Rojas (ranked 1146 p4p, 2029 weight class) and Ralph Cifaretto (ranked 150 p4p, 257 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Rojas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ralph Cifaretto! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cifaretto feints and as Rojas raises his hands in defense, Cifaretto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rojas controlling Cifaretto's posture. Cifaretto wants to pass the guard but Rojas is keeping the position. Cifaretto is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cifaretto throws a big elbow that misses. Cifaretto wants to control from the top but Rojas keeps moving. Cifaretto wants to pass the guard but Rojas is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rojas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cifaretto is controlling him. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Rojas trying to keep a closed guard but Cifaretto is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cifaretto walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Cifaretto fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rojas to the ground. Cifaretto is now in Rojas's guard. Cifaretto being controlled here momentarily. Cifaretto trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Rojas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cifaretto is one step ahead there. Cifaretto wants to control from the top but Rojas keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rojas can't keep his opponent in guard - Cifaretto advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Rojas is trying to get back to full guard. Cifaretto wants to work for an arm triangle but Rojas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rojas is staying active underneath Cifaretto, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rojas blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cifaretto. Cifaretto is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cifaretto wants to pass to mount but Rojas is defending the position. Rojas is looking for a sweep. Cifaretto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rojas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cifaretto. Cifaretto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rojas sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rojas wants to control but Cifaretto is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Rojas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cifaretto fails with a takedown attempt. Rojas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cifaretto. Excellent takedown into side control there by Cifaretto. Rojas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Rojas trying to control here.
Rojas desperately trying to maintain half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cifaretto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rojas defends it well. Cifaretto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rojas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ralph Cifaretto dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! A telegraphed right hand from Rojas misses the target. Cifaretto tries for a takedown but Rojas circles away easily and Rojas counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Rojas lands a jab to Cifaretto's midsection. Cifaretto takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cifaretto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rojas finds it's way round the side to connect with Cifaretto's head. Cifaretto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rojas as he jumps to the side. Cifaretto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rojas jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Ivan Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ralph Cifaretto. Cifaretto fails to land the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rojas leaves Cifaretto with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rojas lands a lovely overhand right. Cifaretto is breathing heavily. A low kick lands for Rojas.

Cifaretto is rocked! Cifaretto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cifaretto is still in real trouble! Can Rojas finish him? Rojas controlling the position well. Cifaretto seems to have recovered his senses. Ralph Cifaretto has got the better of the ground game so far. Cifaretto is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rojas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cifaretto. Rojas trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rojas holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Cifaretto prevents Rojas from standing back up.

Cifaretto is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Rojas reverses the position - he's now on top in Cifaretto's guard. Cifaretto had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rojas defends it easily.

Rojas with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Rojas tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cifaretto controls his leg. Cifaretto is looking for a sweep. Cifaretto stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rojas. Nice takedown defense from Rojas. No joy for Cifaretto on that attempt. Rojas misses with a double jab.

Rojas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rojas wants it to stay on the feet. Ivan Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ralph Cifaretto. Cifaretto tries for a takedown but Rojas circles away easily and Rojas counters with a nice right hand that sends Cifaretto toppling to the canvas! Cifaretto scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Rojas finish him?! Cifaretto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas throws a nice looking combination but Cifaretto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Cifaretto fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rojas avoids it really well and circles away. Ivan Rojas is winning the standup battle so far. Rojas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Horrible takedown attempt by Cifaretto or perhaps it was just good defense by Rojas, which made it look bad. Cifaretto on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Rojas lands with a nice body punch. Rojas closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Cifaretto out cold! Cifaretto corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
