The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Voluspa rushes Rules and presses him up against the cage. Voluspa is looking to take this one to the mat. Rules tightens his grip and picks Voluspa up, before dumping him to the ground. Voluspa manages to land in guard. Voluspa trying to control the hands but Rules won't let him. Voluspa is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Rules controlling the positon. It looks like Rules might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Voluspa's coaches at 3Band MMA have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rules working for the choke. Rules really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Voluspa. I really don't envy Voluspa right now.

He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
