Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luke Smith (ranked 916 p4p, 712 weight class) and Flynn Knightley (ranked 73 p4p, 59 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luke Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flynn Knightley! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knightley tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Smith throws a counter high kick but Knightley was just alert enough to avoid it. Knightley on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Knightley fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith throws a head kick that misses. Knightley tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Knightley on that attempt. Knightley shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Knightley lands a nice shot to the body.
Smith tests Knightley's chin there with a solid looking shot. We've been told by Smith's head coaches at Hammer House of Horror that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Knightley. Luke Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flynn Knightley. Knightley rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Knightley tries a body shot but Smith blocks it.
Smith breaks from the clinch.
Knightley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This has been an exciting period of action! Knightley throwing shots but missing, from side control. Smith is trying to escape the position but Knightley is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is trying to get back to half guard. Knightley is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Knightley working the ground and pound but Smith is defending the strikes. Knightley working the strikes but Smith uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Well, if Knightley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Knightley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Knightley throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Knightley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knightley won't allow Smith to sweep him here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Knightley lands a couple of decent looking shots. Knightley throws a big elbow that misses. Knightley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Knightley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Smith scores with a jab. Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
Knightley fails with an attempt to clinch.
Knightley avoids the head kick by Smith.
Knightley drives through with a takedown into guard. Knightley preventing the sweep. Knightley wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Knightley throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith has control of Knightley's left arm, preventing Knightley from doing any damage. Knightley trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Knightley is stalling in the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Flynn Knightley will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smith, as that shot connected.
Knightley rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage. Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith misses the shot to the body. Smith slips a jab and a cross from Knightley.
A cross from Knightley lands. Luke Smith is winning the standup battle so far. Knightley moves into range and clinches up with Smith. Smith breaks the clinch.
Knightley lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range. Knightley wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown attempt by Knightley or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad. Knightley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. Knightley slips a straight right by Smith. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Knightley slips a straight right by Smith.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knightley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center. Knightley avoids the body shot from Smith.
Knightley connects with a looping right hand.
Knightley lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range. Knightley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Knightley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Smith can't do much from the bottom here. Knightley looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Smith is avoiding damage well.
The strikes coming from Knightley are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Knightley staying calm. Knightley trying to control the position but Smith is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking to reverse the position. Smith looking for a sweep but Knightley has passed into full mount! Oh no! Poor strikes thrown by Knightley there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knightley lands a big elbow. Knightley has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Knightley trying to control but Smith is having none of it. Knightley looking to ground and pound but Smith is blocking nicely. Knightley lands with some strikes. Poor strikes thrown by Knightley there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Knightley putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Knightley misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Knightley controlling from mount. Knightley tries to control but Smith wriggling away. Knightley controlling from the full mount. Flynn Knightley has got the better of the ground game so far. Knightley postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Smith looks a forlorn figure.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Flynn Knightley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round! Smith misses with a straight left. Luke Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Knightley rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Knightley scores with an uppercut up the middle. Smith blocks a body shot from Knightley. Knightley lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Knightley misses with a body punch.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Knightley does a little dance to reset his feet. And Knightley tries to counter it with a takedown but Smith pushes his down on his head and steps out. Knightley gets in close and instigates a clinch. Knightley lands a shoulder strike. Smith lands a right hand. The referee calls for Knightley to work.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but Knightley has the dominant position. Knightley doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smith works the jab nicely. This has been an exciting period of action! Knightley shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knightley shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Knightley slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Knightley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away. Luke Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flynn Knightley. Knightley closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Knightley fails to land. Smith breaks the clinch.
Knightley shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Knightley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knightley trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith keeps control of the position for the meantime. Knightley sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. Knightley is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Knightley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knightley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Knightley shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Knightley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Knightley is one step ahead there. Knightley wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Knightley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Knightley throws a big right hand that misses. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Knightley showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Knightley fails with a takedown attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that's the end of the fight! Flynn Knightley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Knightley winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
