Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ike James (ranked 1228 p4p, 2116 weight class) and Roman Kersikov (ranked 166 p4p, 280 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kersikov's choice of entrance music: 2 Best Enemies - Phases . Ike James has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ike James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circle momentarily. Kersikov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. James has his takedown stuffed and Kersikov counters with a stiff right hand. Kersikov lunges at James with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by James's hand. James fails with a takedown attempt. Kersikov throws out a counter right but James avoids it with no problem. Kersikov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from James. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ike James. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice cross by Kersikov. James tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kersikov defends well and James ends up having to push Kersikov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. And Kersikov tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kersikov. Kersikov will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning James up against the cage. James tries to pull guard but Kersikov holds him up against the cage and eventually James drops back down to his feet.
James manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kersikov stands up over James, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Kersikov stays in close to James's body and controls the position. Kersikov is in close to James's body, working some short punches and elbows. James has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Kersikov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kersikov is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kersikov working some strikes from top position. James avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kersikov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. James keeping moving, preventing Kersikov from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kersikov throws a big elbow that misses. Kersikov trying to control but James is working from the bottom. Kersikov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Kersikov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now. James keeping moving, preventing Kersikov from controlling successfully. James wants to sweep here but Kersikov controlling him for the moment. Kersikov landing with the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kersikov trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. James is controlling Kersikov's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. James darts in looking for a takedown but Kersikov gets double underhooks and turns James into the cage. Kersikov pulls guard successfully.
Our spies down at at KFA inform us that Kersikov has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? James trying to control the position from guard on top but Kersikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. James pushing down on Kersikov's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Kersikov tries to get to full guard but James has control of the leg. James is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kersikov is pressing down on James's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Kersikov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Kersikov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kersikov trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kersikov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kersikov stopping the sweep attempt from James. James working a defensive guard here.
Kersikov works over James with some ground and pound from guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Roman Kersikov dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. James closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kersikov circles away. James closes the distance and clinches up with Kersikov, looking for a takedown. James pushes Kersikov against the cage but Kersikov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Kersikov doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Kersikov misses with a hook. James is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kersikov. James looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ike James. That's going to take a lot out of him. James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. James with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kersikov to score with a decent uppercut. James with a poor takedown letting Kersikov counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kersikov avoids it really well and circles away. Kersikov drops James with a straight left! Oh this is bad for James! Kersikov dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
