Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Phillips is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.
Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Phillips closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Diaz is looking for a sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phillips trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom.
Diaz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Phillips.

Diaz is not content to let Phillips control the position.
Phillips has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Diaz wants to hold on but Phillips pushes him away.
Diaz is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Diaz tries to hold on but Phillips pushes him away.
Phillips wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely.
Phillips throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Diaz because Phillips loaded up on that one.
Diaz is looking to get to half guard.
Phillips thowing shots but they're missing.

Phillips looking to secure an arm triangle but Diaz defends it well.
Diaz really wants to buck Phillips off and get back to his feet.
Phillips trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Phillips throwing strikes here but Diaz is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Phillips passes the guard and advances to mount!
Phillips has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Phillips has a good base and remains in mount.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Diaz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Phillips is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard.
Diaz is taking a breather. Phillips says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
