Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Akutagawa (ranked 224 p4p, 184 weight class) and Quentain Martell (ranked 34 p4p, 25 weight class). Martell has chosen I Pledge Allegiance (Nate Dogg ft. Pharoahe Monch) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryu Akutagawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quentain Martell!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Akutagawa misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Akutagawa.
The crowd cheers as Akutagawa lands an impressive looking overhand right. Martell doesn't seem phased though.
Akutagawa misses with a hook
and Martell counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Ryu Akutagawa has been cut.
Akutagawa looks to throw the jab but Martell is out of range.
Martell waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Akutagawa.
Martell slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Akutagawa takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Akutagawa throws a right hand that misses
and Akutagawa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Akutagawa misses with an uppercut. Martell saw that one coming.
Akutagawa misses with a right hand
and Akutagawa is countered with a crisp right hand from Martell that sends him to the canvas! Martell follows him to the mat into side control.
Ryu Akutagawa's cut is getting worse.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Martell lands an elbow.
Martell misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Akutagawa dodges the ground and pound from Martell.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Martell working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Akutagawa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Martell asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Martell is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Akutagawa will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Martell is chipping away with strikes.
Akutagawa prevents Martell from moving into mount.
Martell is still trying to improve position.
Martell cracks Akutagawa with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martell in side control, throwing shots but Akutagawa defends.
Martell throws an elbow but Akutagawa slips to the side and avoids it well.

Akutagawa is letting Martell control him for a moment.
Martell creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Akutagawa sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akutagawa is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Akutagawa takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ryu Akutagawa's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Akutagawa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Jeez, Ryu Akutagawa's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ryu Akutagawa's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
