Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 83 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake James!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a left and a right that both miss
and Salvacion counters with a solid body kick.

James gets a takedown into half guard.
James is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
James is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Salvacion is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Salvacion defends it well.
James keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Salvacion is trying to control but can't.
James looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
James's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Salvacion is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Salvacion avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Salvacion is trying to stand back up but James is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

James clinches up with Salvacion and pushes him back against the cage.
James slowing the pace effectively.

James is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Salvacion can't fight it off and eventually James manages to take the fight to the floor. Salvacion looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Salvacion can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.

James postures up.
James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James takes the fight into the clinch.

James wants the takedown. Salvacion is fighting it off but James persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Salvacion's guard against the cage.

James is looking to pass into half guard but Salvacion pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Salvacion is in guard.


James looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Salvacion gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James tries to score a power double leg takedown but Salvacion sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten James somewhat.
Salvacion is looking to counter with head kicks.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

James closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

James is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Salvacion has managed to free his arm - good work.
James looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

James wants to free his trapped foot but Salvacion is holding on for dear life with his legs.
James is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Salvacion to get to his feet.
James shoots in for a double leg but Salvacion sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Salvacion quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Clifford Val Salvacion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake James.

James throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. James is in Salvacion's guard.

James advances to half guard.
Jake James has got the better of the ground game so far.
James stalling.
Salvacion is in trouble now - James has advanced to mount!

Jake James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Salvacion tries to sprawl but James drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Well, if James is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

James decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Salvacion gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

James gets to his feet - Salvacion follows without any prompting.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

James breaks the clinch.

James closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Salvacion's guard.
James controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Salvacion, up you get!

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

James stands and steps away. Salvacion gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jake James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
James tries to get to full guard but Salvacion has control of the leg.
