Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Trevin Hughes (ranked 2733 p4p, 2731 weight class) and Rashad Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Trevin Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rashad Bird!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bird changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hughes fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Hughes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bird changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hughes tries to avoid it but Bird manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hughes to the ground. Hughes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
It looked like Hughes was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Bird.
Bird throws a head kick but Hughes moves out of range.
No luck for Hughes with that takedown attempt.
Hughes dodges the punch combination from Bird.
Bird throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hughes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Bird closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hughes circles away.

Nice sprawl there from Hughes as Bird shoots in.
Hughes wants to clinch.

Bird rushes Hughes and presses him up against the cage.
Hughes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bird avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Hughes has Bird pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bird manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bird drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hughes pulls his leg out and moves away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rashad Bird will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hughes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bird is working away from the top position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trevin Hughes.
Well Hughes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
