PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timofey Babinski (ranked 1707 p4p, 2091 weight class) and Shashlyk Lykmekov (ranked 103 p4p, 119 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timofey Babinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shashlyk Lykmekov!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lykmekov throws a leg kick but Babinski moved away.
An attempted straight right counter from Babinski misses the target.
No luck for Lykmekov with that takedown attempt.

Lykmekov looking to score a takedown here. Babinski is defending well but Lykmekov drives through and ends up in Babinski's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lykmekov tries to pull guard but Babinski holds him up against the cage and eventually Lykmekov drops back down to his feet.

Lykmekov goes for a double leg but Babinski avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Babinski continues to drive forward.

Babinski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Babinski gets caught flat footed, as Lykmekov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Lykmekov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Babinski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Babinski wants to stand up but Lykmekov is controlling him.
Lykmekov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lykmekov gets to his feet. Babinski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Lykmekov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Babinski jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Lykmekov checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Shashlyk Lykmekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Babinski throws a sloppy head kick and Lykmekov moves out of range easily.
Babinski connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lykmekov's hands.
Lykmekov on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Babinski. Babinski obviously looking to wear him down.
Babinski looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lykmekov is looking to clinch but Babinski is avoiding it.

Lykmekov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Lykmekov closes the distance and clinches up with Babinski, looking for a takedown. Lykmekov pushes Babinski against the cage but Babinski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Babinski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Babinski tries to get out of the position.

Lykmekov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Babinski wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Lykmekov is looking to clinch but Babinski is avoiding it.
Lykmekov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Babinski swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Babinski missing with a left hand there. Lykmekov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lykmekov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Babinski swivels and escapes.
Lykmekov looks to clinch
and Babinski counters with a left to the body.
Lykmekov is breathing heavily.
Babinski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lykmekov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Babinski avoids it really well and circles away.
It looked like Babinski wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Timofey Babinski is winning the standup battle so far.

Babinski cracks Lykmekov with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Babinski has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Lykmekov to stand back up!

Lykmekov is rocked!

Lykmekov wants to stay close but Babinski steps back to make room for something. Lykmekov seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Babinski and Lykmekov drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
