Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Deangelo Strickland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darius Nunez!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strickland cracks a nice hook into Nunez's ribs.
Nunez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Strickland swings for the body but Nunez moves out of range.
Strickland clobbers Nunez with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Nunez moves away from the strike by Strickland.
Strickland keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Strickland digs a good hook to Nunez's body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Strickland, as that shot connected.
Nunez takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Strickland feints and then cracks Nunez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nunez down.
Nunez moves in looking to clinch but Strickland pushes him off.
Strickland seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Strickland throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nunez.
Nunez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Nunez takes one to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
That kick from Strickland tenderised Nunez's leg. Nunez is trying to keep his angry face on.
Strickland throws an overhand right that lands on Nunez's shoulder, as Nunez tries to avoid the shot.
Nunez feints the counter takedown.
Strickland shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Nunez eats them both and turns towards Strickland to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Nunez is rocked!
Nunez glances at the clock... BAM! Strickland nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Nunez crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Nunez is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Deangelo Strickland!
Deangelo Strickland was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
