Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Deangelo Strickland (ranked 1590 p4p, 2710 weight class) and Tyler Hobbs (ranked 193 p4p, 315 weight class). Tyler Hobbs told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hobbs shoots in but no luck this time.
Hobbs changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Strickland looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Strickland tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hobbs working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hobbs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strickland is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hobbs tries to advance to mount but can't.

Hobbs throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Strickland has his hands clasped together but Hobbs breaks the hold and Strickland is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Hobbs!
