And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cottonpicker Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ritter misses with the combination.
Ritter fails with a takedown attempt.

Curtis feints the counter takedown.
Ritter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Curtis swivels and escapes.
Curtis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ritter defends it well.
Curtis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ritter.

Curtis is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ritter presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Ritter is pressed up against the cage. Curtis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ritter down to the mat. Ritter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ritter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Curtis pinned against the cage. Curtis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Curtis changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ritter stalks Curtis and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Curtis's face. Curtis staggers backwards, shaken.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ritter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Curtis in particular looking to stall.
Curtis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Curtis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ritter is looking to escape.

Ritter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Curtis on the ground.

Ritter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ritter tries to get out of the position.
Ritter wants to hold on but Curtis pushes him away.
Ritter has given up his back here. Will Curtis look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Curtis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Curtis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ritter is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Curtis yanks on the arm and Ritter is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Curtis.
