PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Parker (ranked 2109 p4p, 1910 weight class) and Joshua Jones (ranked 203 p4p, 184 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Samuel Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joshua Jones!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones cracks Parker with a big right hand but Parker just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
You can see the frustration on Parker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jones feints and as Parker raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Joshua Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Parker stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Parker!

I would just about give that final round to Joshua Jones.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
