Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Datsuro Sato (ranked 5132 p4p, 3087 weight class) and Darcy Walsh (ranked 352 p4p, 253 weight class). Datsuro Sato had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Datsuro Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darcy Walsh!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sato moves away.
Walsh throws a combination that misses
and Sato counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Darcy Walsh has been cut.
Sato looks to land a combination but Walsh avoids it well.

Sato drops Walsh with a left and a right! Oh, Walsh is hurt - Sato dives into side control looking to finish!

Walsh is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walsh is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Sato is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Walsh is still in real trouble! Can Sato finish him?
Sato moves to take his opponent's back.

Sato controlling well, preventing Walsh from escaping the position.
Walsh seems to have recovered his senses.

Sato has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Walsh's body.
Sato has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sato throws out a loose jab but Walsh uses good head movement to avoid it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Sato looks to land a combination but Walsh avoids it well.
Sato waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Walsh.

Sato bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Walsh's head.

and Walsh cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Sato will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Sato throws a series of punches but Walsh moves out of range.
Walsh avoids a punch combination nicely.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sato throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sato misses with a looping left.
Walsh takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Sato misses with a two punch combination.
Sato uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Walsh has time to react.
Walsh throws a body punch but Sato moves out of range.
Sato keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sato is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Walsh moves away from the strike by Sato.
Walsh looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Sato swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sato throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sato throws a right and a left that both miss.
Walsh scores with the left hand. Sato knows he should have avoided that one.
Sato throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

No joy there for Walsh, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sato fails to land with a series of punches.

Sato cracks Walsh with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sato throws a right hand that Walsh ducks under and follows up with a left that Walsh also avoids with ease.
Despite the aggression on Walsh's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Walsh on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walsh throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A jab from Sato finds it's way through Walsh's defenses.
Sato is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Walsh can do to turn this around?

Sato scores with a sloppy right hand. Walsh should have avoided that one.

Sato pounces like a tiger and cracks Walsh with a vicious hook! Walsh is down but not out! Sato follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
