PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between French Bull (ranked 1835 p4p, 1328 weight class) and Iranian Hulk (ranked 110 p4p, 91 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, French Bull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Iranian Hulk!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bull throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hulk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like French Bull has been cut.
Bull comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Hulk tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bull manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hulk or perhaps it was just good defense by Bull, which made it look bad.
Hulk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bull tries to avoid it but Hulk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bull to the ground. Bull escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bull has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Stormcrow Centre in the buildup to the fight.
Hulk fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
French Bull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Iranian Hulk.
Hulk has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hulk there as he acknowledges the shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bull connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Iranian Hulk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bull throws a shot from downtown. Hulk moves away and avoids it.
Hulk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bull counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Bull lands a nice hook to Hulk's body. Hulk takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Bull keeps the fight on the outside.
Bull misses with an uppercut.
Bull connects with a body shot that sends Hulk's belly button to the back.
Bull displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hulk.
Bull tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hulk was well out of range. Poor timing from Bull.
Hulk takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hulk slips a straight right by Bull.
Hulk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hulk has his takedown stuffed
and Bull counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hulk throws a nice looking combination but Bull bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bull misses the shot to the body.
Hulk shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bull defends it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bull lands with a good body shot.
Bull's corner calls for a 1-2. Bull obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bull lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bull moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Hulk doesn't manage to clinch there - Bull circles away.
Hulk uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bull.
Bull just misses with a punch to the body.
Hulk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bull to the mat! Bull manages to get full guard.

Hulk postures up in Bull's guard and throws a big left but Bull blocks it.

Hulk lands a couple of elbows.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hulk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hulk sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hulk throwing strikes from guard but Bull blocks nicely.
Hulk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bull is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hulk, into his guard.
Bull wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hulk's closed guard. He's half up but Hulk has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hulk pivots and extends the arm, Bull falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hulk! Well done that man!
