The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rover keeps working.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maia works to advance to full mount. Rover defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Maia is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rover has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rover!

Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rover swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rover wants to stand and escape but Maia is having none of it.

Maia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rover defends it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rover won't allow Maia to sweep him here.

That was a close round but I would say that Demian Maia will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maia is looking to take a break and control but Rover is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Maia remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maia, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
