PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wood Chuck (ranked 526 p4p, 2099 weight class) and Uno Skibbo (ranked 76 p4p, 266 weight class). Chuck comes to the cage accompanied by Who Needs A Girl Like You - Indian Wars. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wood Chuck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Uno Skibbo!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skibbo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Chuck. That did some damage!
Chuck displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Skibbo throws out the jab.
The crowd cheers as Chuck lands an impressive looking overhand right. Skibbo doesn't seem phased though.
Skibbo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chuck.
Skibbo now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Skibbo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Skibbo swings for the body but Chuck moves out of range.

Skibbo throws a hook to the side of Chuck's head but Chuck sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chuck swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Chuck shoots in for a double leg but Skibbo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Skibbo throws a low kick, looking for Chuck's leg but Chuck calmly moves out of range.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Skibbo! But no joy.
A decent looking cross lands there for Skibbo.
Skibbo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chuck was well out of range. Poor timing from Skibbo.
Chuck swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Chuck feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Skibbo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Skibbo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Chuck loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chuck with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Skibbo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chuck is aware though and is defending well.

Skibbo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chuck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Chuck is in close to Skibbo's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Chuck has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Skibbo is looking for a triangle here but Chuck uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
We've been hearing that Chuck has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chuck is putting a hurting on Skibbo here, landing some big shots from side control.
Chuck works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A left lands for Chuck.
Chuck dives in and grabs Skibbo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Skibbo pushes down on Chuck's head and hops out.
Skibbo tries a quick counter leg kick but Chuck is wise to it.
Chuck throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chuck slips under a jab from Skibbo.
Chuck fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Skibbo takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Chuck is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Skibbo can do to turn this around?

Can Skibbo hold on?! Chuck is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

You can see the frustration on Skibbo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chuck connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Skibbo to escape the position.

Chuck is trying to control but Skibbo is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Chuck breaks from Skibbo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Skibbo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Chuck is landing with some decent strikes but Skibbo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Skibbo is squirming around, avoiding Chuck's attempts to control the action.
Chuck is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Chuck can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Skibbo is looking to escape.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Chuck! Skibbo is hurt baaadly! Chuck is firing away with more strikes - Skibbo is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wood Chuck!
An out of breath Wood Chuck thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
