Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pipo Ernesto (ranked 3837 p4p, 3836 weight class) and Donal MacCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pipo Ernesto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donal MacCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacCarthy keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
MacCarthy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

MacCarthy tries to sprawl but Ernesto drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ernesto content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
MacCarthy is looking to control Ernesto's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can MacCarthy avoid being mounted?
MacCarthy is not content to let Ernesto control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ernesto takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ernesto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Ernesto is looking to stall here but MacCarthy recovers full guard.
MacCarthy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
MacCarthy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ernesto throws a series of punches but MacCarthy avoids them all with ease.

Ernesto bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ernesto wants to lay and pray for a moment but MacCarthy keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
MacCarthy is not content to let Ernesto control the position.
MacCarthy is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
MacCarthy wants to get back to his feet but Ernesto drags him back down.
MacCarthy is not content to let Ernesto control the position.
Ernesto is staying tight to MacCarthy's torso, preventing him from escaping.
MacCarthy wants to control but Ernesto postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
MacCarthy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ernesto.
MacCarthy lands a head shot.
MacCarthy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ernesto looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
MacCarthy connects with a body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ernesto throws a sloppy head kick and MacCarthy moves out of range easily.
Ernesto fails with a takedown attempt.
MacCarthy doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Good shot there by MacCarthy.
Ernesto shoots and misses
and MacCarthy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pipo Ernesto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
MacCarthy darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ernesto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. MacCarthy tries to avoid it but Ernesto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag MacCarthy to the ground. MacCarthy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ernesto takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
MacCarthy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ernesto's head backwards.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ernesto takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Decent striking displayed by MacCarthy there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from MacCarthy enables Ernesto to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. MacCarthy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Ernesto is breathing heavily.
Ernesto looking to sit in guard and control but MacCarthy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Donal MacCarthy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

MacCarthy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
MacCarthy stuns Ernesto with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
MacCarthy lands a nice hook to Ernesto's body. Ernesto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Donal MacCarthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacCarthy connects with a nice looking jab.

MacCarthy lands with a shot to the body.
MacCarthy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
MacCarthy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ernesto moves away.
MacCarthy connects with a body shot.

Ernesto has closed the distance and engaged MacCarthy in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A nice left hand lands by MacCarthy.
Ernesto tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. MacCarthy smiles and moves away.
Donal MacCarthy seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice shot lands for MacCarthy.

MacCarthy ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
MacCarthy scores with a nice right hand.
Ernesto doesn't manage to clinch there - MacCarthy circles away.
MacCarthy looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ernesto with a poor takedown
enabling MacCarthy to counter with a crisp jab.
MacCarthy connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ernesto's hands.
Pipo Ernesto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
MacCarthy jabs Ernesto to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ernesto doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling MacCarthy to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pipo Ernesto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
MacCarthy connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Ernesto is rocked!
MacCarthy cracks Ernesto on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Ernesto falls backwards against the cage. MacCarthy follows up with more strikes that drop Ernesto to his knees. MacCarthy keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Ernesto! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Donal MacCarthy!
