This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 35 wins and 28 losses; Isaac Vernon! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 3 losses; Test LS! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and William Peck.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Vernon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Vernon (4) vs (0) LS LS sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Vernon performing his best blanket impression for a moment. LS is holding on to half guard well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. LS wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vernon is controlling the pace.
We've been hearing good reports from Vernon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Vernon is thwarting LS's attempts to control the position. Vernon slows the pace down in half guard. LS is looking to control Vernon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can LS avoid being mounted? LS is pressing down on Vernon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Vernon has control of LS's left arm, preventing LS from doing any damage. LS is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. LS must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. LS tries to free his leg and advance position but Vernon is retaining full guard. LS wants to control from the top but Vernon keeps moving. LS seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Vernon pulls LS in close to his closed guard and prevents LS from doing any damage or advancing position. LS trying to control but Vernon is working from the bottom.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. LS works a leg free and moves into half guard. LS is figuring out what he wants to do next. LS is working for a kimura but Vernon is defending it quite comfortably.
Vernon is looking to control LS's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vernon avoid being mounted?

LS has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Vernon (7) vs (5) LS Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Vernon can't escape the position.
