Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hanson (ranked 4812 p4p, 5278 weight class) and Koda Southam (ranked 235 p4p, 251 weight class). Koda Southam is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Koda Southam! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That kick from Hanson tenderised Southam's leg. Southam is trying to keep his angry face on. Hanson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Southam swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hanson throws a big counter combination but Southam scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Hanson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Hanson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hanson jabs at Southam's body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hanson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Southam has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hanson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Southam has Hanson pushed against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Hanson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Southam tries to pull guard but Hanson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Southam pulls Hanson into guard.
Hanson wants to control from the top but Southam keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Southam can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hanson controls the pace. Hanson preventing the sweep. Southam pulls Hanson in to control the position. Hanson trying to control the position from guard on top but Southam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hanson stopping the sweep attempt from Southam. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Southam darts in and clinches Hanson up against the cage. Southam tries to break the clinch but Hanson is controlling the position. Southam tries to land a knee to the head but Hanson blocks with his arms.
Southam is trying to break the clinch but Hanson is controlling him. Hanson is trying to push Southam away but Southam has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Southam tries to pull guard but Hanson holds him up against the cage and eventually Southam drops back down to his feet.
Mike Hanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Koda Southam. Southam tries to pull guard but Hanson forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Southam looks winded! Hanson is looking to break free of the clinch but Southam has double underhooks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Southam manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Hanson looking to sit in guard and control but Southam gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Southam stands up from Hanson's guard - Southam perhaps looking for a knockout. We've been informed that Southam has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Hanson tries to keep at a distance but Southam has taken the fight into the clinch. Southam wants a takedown but no success here.
Southam has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Hanson tries to break the clinch but Southam is controlling the position. Hanson can't break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanson tries to circle away but Southam has him pinned against the cage. Southam breaks from the clinch.
Hanson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Southam. We've been told by Hanson's head coaches at Gladiator School that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A left and a right from Hanson both land. Nice combination. Hanson shoots in for a takedown but Southam shows good takedown defense. Southam changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Hanson shoots in for a takedown but Southam shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hanson connects with a body shot that sends Southam's belly button to the back. Hanson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hanson lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hanson trying to control but Southam is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Hanson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Southam takes a body punch but keeps moving. Southam tries a head kick but it misses.

Hanson lands a right hook to the body.
Hanson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Hanson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Southam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hanson somewhat. Hanson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Southam can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Southam. Mike Hanson is winning the standup battle so far. Hanson throws a nice inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Southam is breathing heavily. Hanson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Southam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hanson trying to pass the guard but Southam defending well. Southam works his way to full guard. Good work. Southam managing to control the position. Hanson wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Southam's closed guard. He's half up but Southam has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Southam pivots and extends the arm, Hanson falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Southam! Well done that man!
