Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonny Picogram!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aleksandr Zuev!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuev slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A nice leg kick from Zuev, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zuev takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Picogram looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Picogram misses with a lunging right hand
and Zuev counters with a three punch combo that has Picogram backing up. Picogram nods at Zuev to acknowledge the strikes.
Zuev lands with an uppercut that bounces Picogram off the cage and back into range.
Nice defenses there by Picogram.
Zuev jabs Picogram to the body, keeping him at a distance.
A shot to the liver by Zuev. Beautiful body shot.
Picogram scoring well with a low kick there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zuev throws a hook to the side of Picogram's head but Picogram sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A looping hook to the body misses from Zuev. Picogram does a little dance to reset his feet.
Picogram tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zuev swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A little jabbing left from Zuev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Zuev cracks a nice hook into Picogram's ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Picogram avoids the head kick by Zuev.
Picogram throws a push kick but Zuev slaps the foot to one side.
Zuev misses with a double jab.
Zuev lands a jab to the head.
Picogram misses with a leg kick
and Zuev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zuev gets a clinch.
Zuev being controlled against the cage.
Zuev lands with a right to the head.
Zuev wants to break free but Picogram has control.
Picogram throws an elbow that misses.
Zuev trying to land knees to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zuev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Picogram tries to clinch up but Zuev circles away and keeps his distance.
Aleksandr Zuev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zuev catches Picogram with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Zuev dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zuev on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Picogram. Picogram obviously looking to wear him down.
Zuev lands a jab to the head.
A lazy body kick from Picogram
and Zuev counters with a crisp one two that drops Picogram! Zuev thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Picogram to his feet! Picogram is in big trouble!
Picogram is rocked!
Picogram misses with a lunging right hand
and Zuev counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Oh Picogram is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Picogram gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Picogram tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Zuev is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Picogram buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Picogram!! Picogram is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Zuev throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aleksandr Zuev!
Aleksandr Zuev bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
