The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ottke stuffs the takedown. A momentary lapse in concentration from McCain enables Ottke to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McCain manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ottke is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McCain tries to pass to full mount but Ottke defends it. McCain being controlled here, momentarily. Ottke is fighting to break McCain's control of his arms but McCain is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

He's managed it... Nice work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ottke in particular looking to stall. McCain is trying to maintain the position but Ottke is very close to passing his half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ottke prevents McCain from improving his position.
