This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 12 losses; Jim Marston! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 5 losses; Jack Sullivan! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sullivan moves into range and clinches up with Marston. Marston has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sullivan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Sullivan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Marston just stands there and leans against the cage. Sullivan jumps guard but Marston turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Sullivan wants to take the fight to the mat but Marston manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Jim Marston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Sullivan. Sullivan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marston pulls his leg out and moves away.
Marston is looking to clinch but Sullivan is avoiding it.
Sullivan forces Marston back against the cage and clinches. Marston is pressed up against the cage. Sullivan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Marston down to the mat. Marston avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Marston closes the distance and clinches. Marston has picked Sullivan up - he's going for a ride! Marston dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Marston (2) vs (0) Sullivan Marston is keen to just control but Sullivan is a slippery customer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sullivan tries to roll over but Marston keeps him under control. Marston keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan is refusing to be controlled, as Marston sits in half guard. Marston maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Sullivan could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Marston has cracked it and Sullivan is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Marston!
