Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Boytsov (ranked 548 p4p, 1429 weight class) and Jimmy Skoog (ranked 72 p4p, 191 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitry Boytsov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jimmy Skoog! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boytsov lands a lovely overhand right. Skoog steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Boytsov. Boytsov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Skoog's guard. Skoog trying to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boytsov looking to pass the guard. Boytsov is working hard here to advance position. Skoog has Boytsov pulled in close to control his posture. Skoog throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Boytsov drops back looking for a leg! Skoog is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Skoog manages to kick Boytsov off! Boytsov jumps back into Skoog's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skoog is trying to keep Boytsov in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Skoog keeping moving, preventing Boytsov from controlling successfully. Boytsov drops back looking for a leg! Skoog is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Skoog manages to kick Boytsov off! Boytsov jumps back into Skoog's guard. Boytsov trying to control but Skoog is working from the bottom. Boytsov is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Skoog is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Skoog lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Skoog thows a left - swing and a miss! Boytsov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Boytsov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Skoog.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skoog misses the jab. Boytsov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Skoog was well out of range. Poor timing from Boytsov. Boytsov shoots in for a double leg but Skoog sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Skoog displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Boytsov throws out the jab. Skoog tries to counter by closing the distance. Skoog throws a series of punches but Boytsov avoids them all with ease. Skoog looks to land a combination but Boytsov avoids it well. Boytsov tries to keep at a distance but Skoog has taken the fight into the clinch. Skoog lands a body punch. Boytsov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Skoog gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Skoog misses with some punches.
Boytsov lands with a short shot to the head. Skoog tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Boytsov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dmitry Boytsov. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee is keeping an eye on Skoog - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Boytsov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Skoog has control of Boytsov's left arm, preventing Boytsov from doing any damage. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Skoog bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boytsov's guard.

Skoog got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boytsov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Skoog has managed to get both his arms back between Boytsov's legs - danger averted. Boytsov keeping moving, preventing Skoog from controlling successfully. Boytsov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That was a close round but I would say that Dmitry Boytsov will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Boytsov misses with a hook. Jimmy Skoog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boytsov sizes up Skoog with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Boytsov throws a lazy right hand but Skoog sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Boytsov avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Boytsov looks to land a left hand but Skoog moved out of range nicely. Boytsov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Skoog as he jumps to the side. Boytsov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Skoog sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boytsov somewhat. Skoog uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Boytsov. Boytsov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Skoog lands a nice shot to the body.

Skoog uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boytsov. Boytsov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Skoog sprawls well initially but Boytsov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Boytsov is working for a submission of some sort.
Skoog tries to get to full guard but Boytsov has control of the leg. Skoog really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boytsov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The fighters are battling for position here. Skoog manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Skoog wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Boytsov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard.
