PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jorgen Kruth (ranked 235 p4p, 455 weight class) and Draco Leonidas (ranked 26 p4p, 44 weight class). Kruth comes to the cage accompanied by Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorgen Kruth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Draco Leonidas! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kruth shoots in looking for a takedown but Leonidas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kruth's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kruth with a poor takedown and Leonidas counters with a nice body shot. Leonidas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kruth misses with a takedown and Leonidas makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorgen Kruth. That's going to take a lot out of him. A lazy left from Leonidas finds it's target. Leonidas connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kruth. Kruth circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Kruth doesn't succeed with the takedown and Leonidas counters with a lovely straight right hand! No luck for Kruth with that takedown attempt. Kruth loads up on a big right hand but Leonidas slips the punch. Kruth gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Leonidas counter with a right hand. Nice shot by Leonidas. Kruth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leonidas tries to avoid it but Kruth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leonidas to the ground. Leonidas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kruth takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Leonidas throws a body punch but Kruth moves out of range. Kruth wants to clinch up but Leonidas keeps it at a distance. Kruth looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Leonidas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kruth drops down looking for a counter takedown but Leonidas sprawls and moves away.

Kruth got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leonidas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kruth has managed to get both his arms back between Leonidas's legs - danger averted.
Leonidas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kruth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Leonidas is tightening it up a little... Kruth has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kruth reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kruth taps out! Nice BJJ there by Leonidas!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Draco Leonidas! Draco Leonidas decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
