PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam Burns (ranked 4610 p4p, 3871 weight class) and Bobby Stuarts (ranked 348 p4p, 320 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Stuarts!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stuarts.

Burns shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Stuarts napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Burns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stuarts is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stuarts avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Burns.

Burns goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Stuarts has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Burns but great work by Stuarts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns tries to lock up and control but Stuarts gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Burns holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Stuarts tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Stuarts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Burns wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Stuarts.
Stuarts throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Burns is trying desperately to improve position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stuarts wants to control the pace but Burns is squirming around nicely.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Burns takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Burns closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stuarts circles away.
Stuarts thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Burns if he has to take too many more of those.
Stuarts scoring well with a low kick there.
An inside leg kick lands from Stuarts.
Stuarts feints and then cracks Burns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burns down.
Burns shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stuarts defends it nicely.
Stuarts lands a nice looking kick to the body. Burns takes a step back to recover.

Stuarts throws a series of punches but Burns moves out of range.
Bobby Stuarts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stuarts has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burns will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Burns jumps guard but Stuarts turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Stuarts throws a leg kick which misses Burns's front leg but catches the back leg as Burns tries to avoid it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Burns looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Stuarts pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Burns takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Burns swings around for an armbar but Stuarts sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Burns's guard.

Burns lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Burns throws a big elbow that misses.
Stuarts is trying to keep Burns in close.

Burns stands up from Stuarts's guard - Burns perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stuarts lands a front kick.
Stuarts throws a body kick that misses.
Stuarts misses with a body shot.

Stuarts tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Burns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stuarts's guard.

Stuarts looking for a sweep. Not yet Stuarts, not yet.
Stuarts is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stuarts is looking to advance position but Burns won't allow it.
Stuarts wants to take a breather but Burns is having none of it.
Burns is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Stuarts trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Burns wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Stuarts.

Bobby Stuarts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stuarts swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stuarts wants to sweep here but Burns controlling him for the moment.
Stuarts is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stuarts looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Burns gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Burns will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Stuarts up against the cage.

Stuarts has Burns pressed against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Stuarts misses with an elbow over the top.

Stuarts breaks the clinch.
Burns on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Burns tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Burns shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Burns trying to control from half guard but Stuarts is working away.

Burns seems to be working for a kimura but Stuarts defends the submission attempt.

Stuarts wants to get back to full guard.
Burns is stalling here. Stuarts is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Burns seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Stuarts has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Stuarts wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burns keeps working.
