The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.


Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?

Fontaine clinches with his opponent.
Kraag tries for a takedown but Fontaine manages to get underhooks.
Fontaine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kraag jumps guard but Fontaine stands there with Kraag around his waist. Kraag gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kraag goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fontaine prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Desi Kraag. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kraag goes for a takedown attempt but Fontaine pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Fontaine instigates a clinch.
Kraag tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fontaine just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Kraag is trying to trip Fontaine. He has hold of a leg but Fontaine is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kraag persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kraag trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fontaine lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Fontaine drops back looking for a leg! Kraag is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kraag manages to kick Fontaine off! Fontaine jumps back into Kraag's guard.

Kraag is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fontaine is aware though and is defending well.

Fontaine content to stall in guard here.

Kraag looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kraag is breathing heavily.

Fontaine got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kraag has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fontaine has managed to get both his arms back between Kraag's legs - danger averted.
Fontaine slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Fontaine works his way into side control.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Kraag has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kraag tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Fontaine easily slips into full mount!

Fontaine has hold of Kraag's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kraag manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kraag has left one of his arms exposed and Fontaine doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Kraag screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Trip Fontaine!
