Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikael Li!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Naoki Inoue!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inoue jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Inoue misses with a hook.
Li has a takedown stuffed.
A lazy body kick from Inoue
and Li counters with a takedown into side control.
Inoue is trying to improve his position.
Li taking a breather here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Li works to advance to full mount. Inoue defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Li has control of Inoue's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Inoue regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Inoue keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Li trying to control but Inoue is having none of it.
Inoue really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Li. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Inoue tries to reverse the position but Li maintains control.

Inoue defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Li.
Inoue prevents Li from taking his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Li wants to control the pace but Inoue is squirming around nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Inoue tries to lock up and control but Li gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Li working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Li with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Inoue is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Li lands a heavy elbow.
Li is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Li extends the arm and Inoue is forced to tap!
