This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Hardeep Nijjar! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Greer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Greer changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Nijjar gets in close and instigates a clinch. Nijjar is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Greer pulls him back up using the underhooks. Nijjar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Greer regains guard.
Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Greer (0) vs (2) Nijjar The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Greer is controlling Nijjar's posture. Nijjar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Greer is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greer is adopting a defensive guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greer looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Nijjar is defending well. Greer quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Nijjar has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Greer celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
